Same Sex Marriage

First let me say that I don't think the State should have anything to do with marriage, whether it is between heterosexuals or homosexuals. If people want to get married, create a ceremony and do it. People shouldn't be required to obtain a license from the State. It's just another reason for them to get involved in our lives.

Be that as it may, the fact is that the State is involved.

So . . .

As of this writing, a Federal Judge has just overturned the California Gay Marriage ban.

I am 100% in accord.

It's really not complicated. To begin with, the Declaration of Independence declares that we are created equal.

How this translates constitutionality is that we all have a Right to due process and equal protection of the laws.

The findings of fact supported the conclusion that no meaningful distinction could be made between same sex and opposite sex unions for purposes of a valid marriage.

We are born free. We all have basic Rights. Why should heterosexuals care if homosexuals get married anyway? I don't get it. Big deal.

Due process and equal protection carried the day.
